How to SEO And Get Quality Inbound Links
Every blogger wants to believe that they’re the king of the hill in the area of SEO (search engine Optimization). This means having as many people as possible who link your site to theirs one way. SEO is a way of preparing your site to rank highly with the search engines. Some of the methods may vary a bit for SEO, and some are more legit than others. Stuffing and link farming are not the way to go.
When someone has your site linked up to theirs one way, it’s called an ‘inbound’ link. With the page rank system that the big search engines use like Google, it will give you a significant value for the number of links that point to your site. It’s considered a vote of confidence in regards to relevancy by that site.
What Google does is this – it interprets a page ‘A’ link to page ‘B’ as a vote. This vote is BY page A and FOR page B. This can lead to some very lucrative times. The more relevant your site is, the higher your ranking, which in turn will cause more traffic to come your way. More customers, more sales.
One-way inbound links are like gold chips. There are basically five effective ways to accumulate inbound links:
- Ask for inbound links. It’s no crime to promote your site, so just submit it for review at directories with the same theme or subject matter as your own.
- Play the old ‘musical chairs’ game. This way of getting links is a bit shady, and frowned upon by the search engines. It’s acquiring links by reciprocation.
The search engines can normally detect reciprocal links unless they’re layered, or ‘indirect’. Then they have a bit more trouble spotting them, and it requires a more complex form of algorithm. But to do this, you need to have more than just one website. But many people turn a pretty penny using this method.
- Wait to see if you get offers. This is the normal way for getting them. If your content is fresh and interesting, then people will want to link to you. You won’t have to go looking, they will come.
- Be generous with your content. This is truly the best method of getting the better quality, legitimate links. This will cause other sites to want to put a link that will point directly to yours.
- Some links are for sale. There are some high ranking sites that will sell you their outbound links, or sell them to the highest bidder. It’s very common among high ranking sites. Google and other search engines are actively trying to shut these down and spoil their efforts.
Websites are constantly on the lookout for fresh content. You need to update your content as often as possible, once monthly just isn’t enough. Many sites pay writers for fresh content all the time. You can also take advantage of an “about the author” link posted on that site with your own content. You can be creative with it and have it be mutually beneficial.
So, with some hard work and patience, and sometimes luck, you can get the traffic you want and need, and enjoy yourself too.
